"I always wanted to give people an opportunity to live their lives pain-free. In all my sports and lifting, I had almost every injury; ankle sprains, torn hamstrings, concussions, fractures, disc herniations, tendonitis, shoulder impingement, jumper's knee. I know, it's a lot!
As a Chiropractor, I was able to help people recover from injuries but I wanted to do more than that, I wanted to give people the tools to remain pain-free. My goal was to create something lasting, something long-term that would benefit every aspect of your life.
I developed the Array Strength Personal Training philosophy to bulletproof the body. Shoulders, Knees, Ankles, Low Backs... Everything. This philosophy allows for a tremendous increase in strength while simultaneously keeping you safe, deloading your joints, and preventing the onset of future pain.
I have had the amazing ability to help hundreds of people reach their goals and I can confidently say that no one has ever regretted getting stronger." ~ Dr. Rob
Does Weakness Cause Pain?
In my experience, most people have multiple functionally weak areas. These weaknesses cause us to experience abnormal torque on our joints, causing injuries and nagging pain.
Let's use the knee as an example. The quad and hamstring provide counter forces at the knee. One extends the knee, while the other flexes the knee. In most cases, quad strength overpowers the hamstring. This is known as quad dominance. Quad dominance is a major predictor of future knee injuries. Properly strengthening the hamstring can lead to less abnormal torque on the knee, decreasing the likelihood of a future injury.
This same principle can be used on every joint to decrease abnormal torque. Some cases are much more complicated, but the correct application of strength is highly preventative.
Does Tension Cause Pain?
Yes. There are multiple ways to release tension including, foam rolling, lacrosse ball rolling, stretching, and manual soft tissue release (massage therapy). We teach foam rolling and stretching techniques to our personal training clients with the goal of helping you to become self-sustainable. Of course, there are times when you will need further care. This is why we offer high-end, orthopedic massage therapy. Our massage therapy is performed with the goal of improved overall function and pain relief.
To all future Array Strength clients, we highly recommend purchasing a foam roller to use at home. Our favorite foam roller is called the TriggerPoint Grid Roller 1.0 and is listed on Amazon for about $35. If you have never used a foam roller, we are more than happy to teach you! Please do not foam roll without proper instruction.
Dr. Rob's education and experience have allowed him to develop Array Strength's personal training philosophy. As a licensed Chiropractor, he searched for the key to long-term joint health and believes that it is the proper application of strength.
