THE BASICS

Chiropractic Care Built Different.

Let's address the elephant in the room. "If you are a chiropractor then why don't you practice traditional chiropractic?" Great question.

The scope of Chiropractic is much larger than most realize and though chiropractic adjustments are what most chiropractors are known for, there is much more that we are licensed and educated to do.

Throughout my education and career, my only goal was to find the best way to get people out of pain. After years of pursuing this goal, I have found that nothing eliminates pain faster than STRENGTH.

SCIENCE OF ARRAY STRENGTH

Is Weakness Causing My Pain?

Throughout my career I only had one goal, to find the best way to get people out of pain. After years of continuing education, professional mentorships, and owning my practice, I have found that nothing eliminates pain faster than STRENGTH.

In my experience, most patients have 2-3 functionally weak areas. These weaknesses cause abnormal torque (rotational force) to occur at the joint driving injury or nagging chronic pain.

Let's use the knee as an example. The quadriceps and the hamstring provide counter forces at the knee. One extends the knee, while the other flexes the knee. In most cases, quadriceps strength overpowers the hamstring. This is called quad dominance. A large number of knee injuries are in some way affected, by quad dominance. Correctly strengthening the hamstring can lead to decreased torque on the knee, ultimately eliminating pain.

This same principle can be used on every joint to decrease the abnormal torque driving pain. Some cases are much more complicated, but correctly strengthening the right muscles makes changes occur quickly.

Finding Muscles That Need Some Work.

Strength only eliminates pain if you are strengthening the right area. This is where we come in. During the first session, we will perform a combination of functional exams that demonstrate problem areas and the origin of your pain. This gives us a baseline of what needs to be strengthened.

Muscles need to be strengthened based on their primary function and with a goal in mind. Performing 5 sets of 5 single arm rows may make your back strong but it will not improve your ability to sit upright at your desk during your 8-hour work day. Endurance muscles require training muscular endurance.

Correctly strengthening weak muscles and strengthening with a goal quickly improves function and decreases pain.

Is Tension Causing My Pain?

Yes. There are multiple ways to release tension including, foam rolling, lacrosse ball rolling, stretching, deep tissue tempering, and manual soft tissue release. We use all of these techniques at Array Strength but one of our main goals is to teach you how to be self-sustainable. Of course, there are things that you can't do on your own, we will do these in the office.

We recommend purchasing a foam roller for all our patients. When you come in, following our examination, we will show you how to foam roll your specific problem areas. Sometimes simply decreasing tension in these areas is enough to eliminate a majority of your pain.

We have recently partnered with a Massage Therapist. If you are interested in receiving an orthopedic massage to relieve tension, contact us and we will give you their contact information.
